Next week, the seventh annual Design Leadership Summit (DLS) kicks off in Marrakech, Morrocco. Attending are the principals of leading architecture and design firms, in a three-day event that aims to faciliate important connections.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Defining and Discovering Value,” a concept unanimously identified in brainstorming sessions during DLS Copenhagen, Denmark. All aspects of this year's agenda and activities will explore the substance and communication of the real value of design.
The Summit will be kicked off by the Honorable Dr. Lahcen Haddad, Minister of Tourism for the Kingdom of Morocco. The keynote address will be delivered by author, philosopher and raconteur Tahir Sha from Casablanca, followed by a trip to Dar Soukkar, a restored 18th century sugar factory for entertainment and dinner. Other speakers will include fashion designer Ralph Rucci, WSJ. Magazine Editor in Chief Deborah Needleman, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers partner Aileen Lee, Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies Senior Research Fellow Kermit Baker, Former US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco the Honorable Frederick Vreeland.
Participants are staying at the Four Seasons Marrakech, with networking at souks, riads and desert excursions such as Marjorelle Garden currently owned by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé.
