Architectural Digest launches tablet edition

Posted on Monday, August 06, 2012.

Architectural Digest has introduced its first application for the iPad, Kindle Fire, and NOOKTablet, and for Next Issue on iPad and Android.

“Developing the tablet edition of Architectural Digest has been so exciting, because it’s enabled us to completely transform our editorial features for a new platform,” says Margaret Russell, editor in chief of Architectural Digest magazine. “This isn’t a basic PDF replica of our pages—we’ve redesigned our September content specifically for the iPad and other tablets. Our readers can experience the lush photographs AD has always been known for, but the tablet edition also offers exclusive images, interactive floor plans, and special videos. Now readers can access the world of AD in print, online, and on the tablet—literally anywhere and at any time.”

After a free download for iPad and Kindle Fire users, the Architectural Digest app offers the ability to preview, purchase and download the latest issue for $5.99--the digital edition is free to current print subscribers. NOOK Tablet users can purchase individual issues or opt to subscribe for a year, starting with the current issue.

Each issue is designed for 10” and 7” tablet devices, customized to which size device you’re currently using.

• Interactive floor plans and enhanced views: Tap on the floor plan for tablet-exclusive images, see special time-lapse photography, alternate views, and more.

• Ability to shop AD’s Sources page: Scroll through editorial features, view products by room, and click on the Sources links to connect to the manufacturers’ websites.

• Bonus content: The interactive tablet edition includes everything from the September issue—plus tablet-only  videos featuring some of this year’s AD Innovators, and additional images and expanded coverage for Estates and Most Wanted, two of AD’s most popular features.
