NeoCon East celebrates tenth year in Baltimore

Posted on Monday, August 20, 2012.

A special focus on products and on the design of government facilities will be seen at the Mid-Atlantic's important commercial furnishings exposition for the architecture and design community, NeoCon East, at the Baltimore Convention Center October 17-18,  for its tenth year.

“NeoCon East has grown tremendously since it was launched in 2003, which is an indication of how important the Federal Government has become to many manufacturers,” said Mark Falanga, president and CEO, MMPI. “This central location in the Mid-Atlantic region is ideal for designers, contractors and government procurement officers to explore new products, meet top manufacturers and glean valuable insights from the expansive educational tracks.”

The two keynotes presentations are free to registered attendees. First, on Wednesday, October 17 at 11am, is John W. Chapman, AIA, principal of KCCT in Washington, D.C., who was recently appointed to the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Industry Advisory Panel representing the American Institute of Architects. Formed under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, this panel of nine ensures that the U.S. Department of State employs the best possible methods for safety, security, and functional facilities at U.S. diplomatic missions overseas. As Principal-in-Charge of KCCT’s international studio, Chapman has designed ten new embassy compounds, six new diplomatic office buildings, twenty major embassy renovations, and restored fifteen historic buildings overseas—four of which are listed on the Secretary of State’s Register of Culturally Significant Property. Sponsored by Davis Furniture Industries. Then on Thursday, October 18 at 11am, is native New Yorker Todd Bracher, founder of Todd Bracher Studio LLC, a designer and strategist who has worked in Copenhagen, Milan, Paris and London. Bracher has collaborated with top design brands around the world on furniture and product design, interiors and architecture. He has served as the head of Tom Dixon's Design studio, acting professor at l'ESAD in Reims, France, and Creative Director of Georg Jensen. Sponsored by Shaw Contract Group.

In addition, this year there will be more than 35 seminars organized into 11specialty tracks, including Office Design, Lighting, Healthcare, Hospitality and Green Design. The programs are designed for both public and private sector interior designers, architects and engineers with high-quality, professionally certified seminars. Registration is required and fees range from $30-$40. For more information, click here.
