During the final hour of TEFAF Maastricht, a 11.65 ct. pink sapphire platinum ring with diamonds and 7.23 ct. diamond pendant were stolen from the stand of Hancocks, London. The jewels had a total value of €860,000. The perpetrators have not been identified and the police of the city of Maastricht is currently investigating the theft. TEFAF Maastricht is described by industry professionals as a museum where everything is for sale. Representatives from more than 150 museums and institutions from over 17 countries visited the Fair and museum sales and reservations were reported throughout the Fair. This year’s fair took place in the MECC (Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre) Maastricht March 12-21, 2010.
