1stdibs establishes brick-and-mortar location at NYDC
Feb 16, 2011

The first concept of its kind, the "1stdibs@NYDC" marketplace changes the dynamic of the New York Design Center—a once design-trade-only building—into a progressive, all inclusive design resource.
A total of 53 national and international 1stdibs dealers will occupy the entire 10th floor of the NYDC offering 33,000 square feet of fine antiques and 20th century design. Galleries represented at 1stdibs@NYDC includes WYETH; Converso; Jean-Marc Fray; Randall Tysinger Antiques; Hostler-Burrows; Pascal Boyer Gallery; and Ophir Gallery Inc.

The layout is designed to give the feel of an open modern loft space with a high ceiling, windows on all four sides of the floor, and wide-open spaces emulating a modern day Parisian flea market with individual dealer booths that are clearly marked. The space also includes an area for design consultations, computer stations, and a knowledgeable sales staff to work with those visiting the floor.

1stdibs has carved out a 1,100 sq. ft modern white cube gallery space designed for holding exhibitions, as well as hosting lectures, books signings and special events. The first exhibit is from the collection of Roger Prigent's Malmaison.
An ambitious calendar of Saturday events taking place in the space will be announced shortly.
