The winners of New England Home magazine’s sixth annual “5 Under 40” awards, which recognize New England’s hottest emerging residential design talent in architecture, interiors and landscape design, will be recognized at an awards party on Thursday, Sept. 10 in Boston.
The winners are: Corey Papadopoli of Elliot + Elliot Architecture (Blue Hill, Maine), who received the distinction in architecture, while Josh Linder of Evolve Residential (Boston, Mass.) was recognized as an emerging talent in interior design. The landscape design distinction went to Troy Sober of Gregory Lombardi Design (Cambridge, Mass.). Adam Rogers of Thos. Moser (Auburn, Maine) and Kate Sterling of AKDO Intertrade (Bridgeport, Conn.) were recognized for their contributions to specialty design.
This year's "5 Under 40" winners raise a toast at the award's announcement celebration.
“Recognizing these young professionals and introducing their gifts and achievements to our readers is a critical part of our mission to promote great home design,” said Kyle Hoepner, editor in chief of New England Home. “We expect to see more and more great things from these five individuals over the coming years.”
Each of the five will design a custom rug that will be handwoven in Nepal at the workshop of presenting sponsor Landry & Arcari Rugs and Carpeting, with the hope of establishing a connection between designer and weaver. The rugs will be auctioned at the celebration to benefit Cambridge-based charity Barakat, which works in south and central Asia to provide basic education, increase access to higher education and advance literacy, especially among women and children. Tickets for the awards ceremony and cocktail party are now on sale online.
The winners were selected by a committee of professionals from the New England design community including Joe Kennard of Joseph Kennard Architects (Boston, Mass.); Liz Caan of Liz Caan Interiors (Newton, Mass.); Greg Bilowz of Bilowz Associates (Sterling, Mass.); Natalie van Dijk Carpenter of Lekker (Boston, Mass.); and Kyle Hoepner, editor in chief of New England Home magazine.
