Hermes, Roche Bobois, Promemoria, Tom Dixon, MissoniHome and Fabrica are among brands debuting new collections in Milan during Italy’s premiere international furnishings tradeshow. To help navigate Salone Internazionale del Mobile and the concurrent events around the city, Editor at Large has compiled some highlights and must-sees for anyone heading to Milan:
Hermes (Via Pisoni, 2) will preview a new textile pattern and collection, “Jungle life shadows Chinoise” by illustrator Robert Dallet. The name of the pattern and the line refer to shadow puppetry, and the textile pattern is inspired by a bird-filled forest.

Tom Dixon will take over The Cinema in the heart of Milan at the Casa dell’Opera Nazionale Balilla (Via Pietro Mascagni, 6) as part of designjunction edit Milan, to display new designs for lighting fixtures and furnishings. New products will include Melt, a lighting globe made in collaboration with Swedish design collective FRONT and Wingback, classic British furnishings updated for the 21st century. Promemoria will debut its new collection, Lake Tales by designer Romeo Sozzi, as well as its new Angelina Kitchen project. The collections can be viewed on Tuesday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Via Bagutta 13, email for an appointment. Additionally, Promemoria will host a cocktail party Wednesday, April 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at via Montenapoleone 8, RSVP for details.
Rossana Orlandi will hold her annual curated show of young talent and established designers at her shop, Spazio Rossana Orlandi. This year she will host designs by Calico Wallpaper with BCXSY, Piet Hein Eek and Luca Nichetto, among others (Via Matteo Bandello 14/16).

FLOS at Euroluce at the Salone del Mobile Fairgrounds will introduce designs by Jasper Morrison, the Bouroullec brothers, Patricia Urquiola, Tokijin Yoshioka, Philippe Starck and others in a booth designed by Ron Gilad at the fairgrounds (Hall 13, Stand C09-D18).
Michael Anastassiades and Roll & Hill will also premiere new designs at Euroluce. Roll & Hill will introduce works by Lindsey Adelman, Bec Brittain, Jason Miller, Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, Paul Loebach, Philippe Malouin and Karl Zahn.
MissoniHome will debut new “stories” including Poppies and Poppies Outdoor at both the Salone fairground and its Milan showroom (Via Elvezia, 22).

Louis Vuitton will premiere its Objets Nomades collections, featuring travel-inspired, foldable furnishings. The collection includes pieces by established and emerging designers: Patricia Urquiola, Atelier Oī, Barber & Osgerby, Nendo, Campana Brothers, Gwenaēl Nicolas, Raw Edges and Maarten Baas (Corso Venezia, 48).
Kartell will present a multi-sensory experience in design, focused on vision, smell and touch. Battery by Ferruccio Laviani is a new lighting fixture that Kartell will reveal. Addtionally, will premiere Philippe Starck's latest upholstery print, Madame, for World of Emilio Pucci edition, and a new initiative, Kartell Fragrances, also designer by Ferruccio Laviani.

Italian furniture brand Turri will host a cocktail party in celebration of both its 90th anniversary and the opening of its flagship store at Via Borgospesso, 11. The cocktail party will be on Wednesday, April 15 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Email to RSVP.
AirBNB and Fabrica will present the installation Housewarming, which celebrates the relationships between hosts and guests and the concept of “a simple welcome.” Nineteen international designers will interpret that concept while designing rooms in the Palazzo Crespi (Corso Venezia 20), a private home open to the public for the first time.

Casamania will present two new products: Summit, a sofa designed by Giulio Iacchetti, and Lily, a coffee table designed by Marc Thorpe. These pieces will be on display at Hall 16, stand D39. The new line of Casamania designs will also be on view at the Roberto Del Carlo showroom. (Via Borgospesso 25)
Roche Bobois will introduce its Fall Winter 2015 Collection designed by Sacha Lakic. Highlights of the collection will include the Aircell armchair and Pollen modular bookcase.

Hansgrohe SE’s designer brand Axor returns to Milan with the latest edition of WaterDream, a project where designers present innovations to bathroom construction, particularly in how the functional parts of a bathroom can become a part of the overall space and aesthetic. Phillipe Grohe, grandson of Hans Grohe will present the creations of students from ÉCAL on April 13 at 12:30, in the Axor DURINIQUINDICI showroom (Via Durini, 15).
SaloneSatellite, an initiative sponsored by the Salone del Mobile since 1998, will feature 700 young designers from all over the world in an exhibition showcasing the work of designers under 35. Three of the 700 will leave with the sixth annual SaloneSatellite Award, which recognizes the 3 best prototypes exhibited.
Installations at Salone will include “FAVILLA. To every light a voice,” constructed by architect Attilio Stocchi to mark UNESCO’s 2015 International Year of Light and “Workplace3.0,” which brings together workplace innovations from furnishing companies from around the world.
Chinese association Lighting Innovation Design Center and Fondazione Italia Cina will present the exhibition “China meets Italy” to showcase the best of Chinese lighting innovation while creating an opportunity for cultural exchange (Circolo Filogico Milanese, Via Clerici 10).
