On Tuesday evening, October 29, Haven’s Kitchen in downtown Manhattan was abuzz with some of the biggest names in design—all there to welcome Dara Caponigro, who was named creative director of Schumacher in September.
Caponigro, who was previously editor-in-chief of Veranda magazine, greeted guests and gave a toast, alongside Schumacher CEO Terri Eagle, expressing her vision for the brand and enthusiasm for being part of its future.

“What a rock star group—I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with some of the most talented people in the design industry and to feel so supported by them,” said Caponigro. “Schumacher is on fire and I know we are going to accomplish great things. The best part of it for me is that I'll still be working with all my favorite people, just in a different way.”

Notable attendees included T Magazine editor-in-chief Deborah Needleman, Veranda editor-in-chief Clinton Smith, Architectural Digest editor-in-chief Margaret Russell and New York Magazine design editor Wendy Goodman. Interior designers included Miles Redd, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Celerie Kemble, Brad Ford, Juan Montoya, Nick Olsen, Amanda Nisbet and Katie Ridder.

“I’m so thrilled to have Dara as part of our team and to see the outpouring of support from the design community,” said Eagle in a heartfelt toast. “Dara is extremely talented and inspirational—she’s already making a significant impact in only 3 weeks. I love working with her. She is passionate about product and says ‘it must be special’ just like she is."
