Two shelter titles appear on Ad Age's top 10 A-List this year: Architectural Digest, which takes number four on the list, and Traditional Home, which is number eight. In addition, New York magazine was mentioned as a "Magazine to Watch" for its collaboration with Dwell in City Modern.
Architectural Digest increased ad pages 5.7% in 2010, 9.1% in 2011 and 11.3% in its 2012 issues through October, putting it on track to beat its 2008 record of 1,000 ad pages. Newsstand sales were also up 8.6% in the first-half. The success is partially attributed to the magazine's redesign in 2010 under editor in chief Margaret Russell, as well as its new website, the AD @Oasis spaces at Art Basel, and the Architectural Digest Home Design Show.
Traditional Home is finding "younger and richer readers" with its online magazine, TradHome, which expanded to two issues this year. Its print ad pages in its January through October issues increased 11.5%. October ad pages were the highest for that month since 2008 and its single-copy sales increased.
"This A-list win for Traditional Home is a true reflection of our A-team's dedication and hard work over the past two years," said publisher Beth Fuchs Brenner. "It speaks to the relevance of traditions in our family lives, and the home as the nucleus of all we hold dear. We couldn't be more excited."
New York magazine, which recently teamed up with Dwell to create City Modern, is listed as a "Magazine to Watch." Its digital revenue, which now constitutes 34% of its total revenue, is up from 25% three years ago.
