After 17 years, the D&D Building's Astra closes its doors
Jun 19, 2014

It's the end of an era at the Decoration and Design Building in New York City as its 14th floor restaurant, Astra, has officially shut its doors as of May 31 after 17 years in business.
Taking its place will be Upper Story, a new restaurant by chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer (who also owned Astra), scheduled to open in October, according to an article in the Post.

Upper Story will serve modern American Cuisine and will seat up to 160 guests—open to both interior designers and the general public. It will be roomier than Astra by 765 square feet.

New York-based interior designer Scott Salvator will reimagine the dining space employing its scenic panoramic river views.
