AIANY announces Design Awards winners

On March 9, a panel of seven architects, landscape architects, educators, critics and planners announced the 35 awards conferred in this year’s American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY) Design Awards. Architecture firm SsD took home Best in Competition for its Songpa Micro Housing project in Seoul, South Korea, beating out 390 other submitted projects.

Also among award recipients: Davis Brody Bond, who received an Honor Award in architecture for the National September 11 Memorial Museum in New York City and Clouds Architecture Office, which received an Honor Award in interiors for the St. Mark’s Bookshop project, also in NYC.

All winning projects can be viewed at the Center for Architecture in the 2015 Design Awards exhibition from April 23 to June 17. Winners will also be recognized at the Honors and Awards Luncheon on April 22 at Cipriani Wall Street, AIANY’s annual fundraising event. The luncheon will include Medal of Honor recipients Grimshaw Architects, Award of Merit recipient Mary Miss and Justin Davidson, winner of the Stephen E. Kliment Oculus Award. Tables for the luncheon can be reserved here.
Additionally, the Design Awards Honor Winners’ program will take place at 6 p.m. on May 12, at the Center for Architecture.
The awards recognize outstanding architecture by AIANY members, New York City based architects around the globe, and work by international architects in New York City. The full list of winners can be found here.
