In a seminar aptly titled “It’s NOT All About Pretty Things,” interior designer Amanda Nisbet will focus on the essentials of running a successful interior design firm in the challenging and unique world of high-end design. The intimate and in-depth course is geared towards interior designers interested in starting or growing a business.
The curriculum covers topics including landing clients, contract negotiations, dealing with vendors, generating proposals and purchase orders, problem solving, and creative inspiration.
"The simple is never simple and the difficult is often really difficult. However, when you combine knowledge, resources, style and natural talent you can conquer anything that the design world throws at you," said Nisbet.
The seminar takes place Thursday, May 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, May 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The schedule includes a full day of seminars, as well as visits to three key showrooms, a work site nearing the end of the construction phase, a recently completed private residence, and a workroom to see a work in progress.
Each attendee will take home a mini-library gift bag of supplies to start designing and building his or her business—including a list of many of Nisbet’s own resources and trade-secrets. Each attendee will also receive the curriculum in a blue croc printed notebook lined in a signature textile.
