Ambiente Internationale returns with a focus on ‘green’
Jan 30, 2017

Running February 10 to 14, the Frankfurt, Germany-based show Ambiente Internationale is again organized around Dining, Giving, and Living areas, spanning kitchen trends, contemporary design, tabletop, and other interior and decor categories. The show calls itself a “launching pad” for new products, and will introduce Driade’s new tableware; fair newcomer Hering Berlin, which specializes in crystal and porcelain; designers Katharina Brand and Tzuri Gottlieb, with wood veneer products; and Danish design studio Lene Bjerre’s Scandinavian goods. It is also running a number of sustainability-focused programs.

The show will also spotlight what it calls “ethical style,” with a competition awarding 23 sustainable products and product series, recognizing them for “ecological and ethical design quality.” Shares Nicolette Naumann, vice president at Ambiente: “Through this focus on ‘ethical style,’ we are not only addressing a highly current topic, we are demonstrating, above all, what design approaches and solutions, differing in their contemporary nature, may look like for the purpose. In this way, we wish to motivate manufacturers and the retail trade to utilize for their own innovations and business ideas the high level of dynamism provided by this trend.”

Ambiente is also spotlighting sustainable companies via its Ethical Style guide, which lists 220-plus exhibitors, chosen by an independent jury, that identify and highlight the factors that make a product sustainable or “green.”
