With furniture trade shows in Mumbai and home décor and lighting shows budding in New Delhi—including the Furniture & Furnishings Fair, the India Furniture Expo, the India International Decorex Home Show and India Design id—India is shaping up to be an international hot spot for design.
Trade show management company Messe Frankfurt has added Ambiente to the Indian market, set to premiere June 19 – 21 with products related to dining, giving and living. It will run parallel to Heimtextil at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre in New Delhi.

“Factors such as rapid urbanisation, higher disposable incomes as well as the above-average growth of sectors like hospitality and real estate are key drivers of the home décor and accessories market and, thus, pointing to the significance of having an Ambiente event in India," said Raj Manek, managing director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd.
Also, according to a recent BRICdata study, the market volume for products relating to interior design and decoration will grow to $48.5 billion by 2016. Moreover, growing consumption in India is expected to create increasing demand for products for the home.
