American design firms recognized with Blueprint Awards
Oct 29, 2015

The U.S. was named one of the world’s top countries for design and architecture, according to The Blueprint magazine. The yearly Blueprint Awards ceremony, held last week in London, recognized leaders in the industry across 12 categories. Entries came from around the world, representing every continent except Antarctica. The U.S. and the U.K. were the only countries to receive more than one award. The award for Best Public Use Project Privately Funded was awarded to New York–based practice Diller Scofidio + Renfro for The Broad museum in Los Angeles, while the California-based practice Clive Wilkinson Architects received the Best Interior Design Project or Product for Work for The Barbarian Group offices in New York.

“In just the second year of the awards, we found our international reputation has gone before us and the quantity and quality of the projects we received from all over the globe were nothing short of stunning,” says Blueprint editor Johnny Tucker. “However, even though the quality was really high, certain projects clearly jumped out at the judges, who all went for very similar projects. In fact, in three categories, we had a tie and had to bring in more judges to make the final decisions. It was very difficult to separate the cream at the top!”
