The Architectural Digest Home Design Show, which ran from March 22-25 at NYC's Pier 94, was the most-visited in its 11-year history. There was a 30 percent increase in attendance on opening, to-the-trade, day, a figure that was mirrored in ticket sales throughout the four-day show.
The sold-out show featured over 400 exhibitors and brands. Included in this were 160 participants in the MADE section, which highlights limited-edition and one-of-a-kind art, furniture and lighting. That was four times the number when MADE launched at the show in 2008.
New for this show was a reFRESH pavilion featuring more than 100 kitchen and bath brands, like La Cornue and Franke.
There were programs spread across the four days, including one by Margaret Russell, Architectural Digest's Editor-in Chief, whose keynote presentation on photography of interiors filled the theater. “This show is an extraordinary opportunity for us to bring AD to life for our trade community and design enthusiasts alike,” said Ms. Russell. “This event was created to foster ideas and inspiration by bringing together the best and brightest in the field.” The New York Times-sponsored Designer Seminar Series brought insight from design professionals on everything from sustainability to larger trends in architecture and interiors.
DIFFA's Cocktails by Design had its largest turnout, with 900 guests admiring the tablescapes by top home brands and designers. All proceeds from the Dining By Design opening night party, gala dinner and silent auction benefit Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS.
