A fitting Times Square broadcast heralded this year's Architizer A+Awards as the largest and loudest in the program's three-year history. Winners, including Heatherwick Studio, James Corner Field Operations and Studio Gang, among others, hailed from more than 100 countries and 150 companies and were among thousands of entries judged by a panel of more than 300 experts.
"We made the A+Awards really, really big," Architizer cofounder Marc Kushner said, “to celebrate everyone behind the work: mayors, architects, planners, users, even tweeters."
The winners made an appearance in Times Square via a partnership with PVBLIC, a development and advisory firm that awards grants of unused media space to significant causes. The yearly gala, held in tandem with the awards, afforded industry luminaries including Yves Béhar, Jeanne Gang and Bernard Tschumi the opportunity to enjoy themselves along with notables like Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
Those who couldn’t attend are invited to view image-rich, hardback tome, Architizer: A+ Awards 2015, which collects the year's winners across three categories, and watch the festivities:
