Benjamin Moore and O, The Oprah Magazine select shelter in Westchester for "color of inspiration" initiative
Sep 22, 2009

Northern Westchester Shelter in Pleasantville, New York, will receive a colorful face-lift the weekend of October 4, courtesy of Benjamin Moore, the promotion team at O, The Oprah Magazine and a dedicated group of local volunteers. The shelter, which provides refuge to victims of domestic violence, was selected out of 1,300 nominations submitted by O, The Oprah Magazine readers in response to a call to action in the June 2009 issue. Benjamin Moore will provide all the tools needed as well as its zero-VOC Natura line of paints to make the Shelter's interiors come alive. The revitalization will culminate in a celebration for the volunteers, hosted by O, The Oprah Magazine’s promotion team. “Serving our communities and helping others is an essential part of our Live Your Best Life message,” said Jill Seelig, VP/Publisher O, The Oprah Magazine. “We hope that the Color of Inspiration will not only bring some cheer into the lives of families in need, but that it will inspire others to do good works in their own communities.” “It’s a core belief at Benjamin Moore to give back to the communities in which we work, and housing initiatives, especially, are at the heart of our corporate giving,” said Eileen McComb, the company’s Director of Communications. “We could not have asked for a better or more like-minded partner than O, The Oprah Magazine and its readers in helping us reach out to find a deserving group residence where an infusion of new colors and fresh coat of paint might go a long way in brightening a few lives. Many of our management and employees plan to roll up their sleeves and help with the painting, as well, heeding President Obama’s call to service and voluntarism.”
