Nov 27, 2012

With the help of interior designer Alexa Hampton and NYSID President David Sprouls, Bring It To The Table (BiTT) awarded design student Leighanna Ternosky with a scholarship towards her education in the interior design field.
Aside from financial assistance, Ternosky will also receive mentoring from Hampton and interior designer Vincente Wolf who have agreed to review her portfolio and help her with classes so she can attain her goals.

“It means helping the future of young female designers who don’t have the necessary funds to obtain their goals; it’s important because they are the future of our design industry,” Lana Lawrence, founder of BITT, said of the scholarship.
The scholarship was presented at BiTT’s annual holiday party at the Anthony Lawrence-Belfair Design Center in Chelsea, NY where all ticket proceeds were donated to the student’s cause.
Sponsors of the event included: A. Logan Insurance, Anthony Lawrence-Belfair, Benjamin Moore, Carlisle, Cliff Young Ltd., Crestron, Doodle Home, Hailey Construction, J Pocker and Son, MZ Movers, New York Drapery Care, Stephanie Odegard Collection, Shelly Tile, and St Charles.
Here’s a look at Ternosky’s background:
Ternosky’s hometown is Hackettstown, NJ where she lives with her mother and younger sister. From a young age, she has been interested in art and design, graduating Phi Theta Kappa at CCM (County College of Morris) with an AFA degree in Interior Design. Growing up in an artistic family she has been able to view Fine Arts, Architecture and Interior Design projects done by her relatives. She enjoys art in all forms, primarily design and tries to understand and accept each work for what it is.
After CCM she was inspired to further her design education at NYSID and is currently in her 2nd year of the BFA program. She always has the drive to learn and the determination to take on challenging experiences that will help improve her career. Her future plans and interests are to graduate from NYSID, focusing on Hospitality and Green Design. Her goal is to one day own a design firm and obtain a real-estate license to stage and sell houses.
BiTTT was founded in 2010 by Lawrence and is a groundbreaking networking group for trendsetting women who are leaders in the interior design industry.
