Brown Jordan, manufacturer of outdoor furniture, announced a continued partnership with Design Within Reach for two new mid-century furniture collections: VKG Terrace and Walter Lamb.
The Terrace Collection, originally designed in 1939, is the work of Hendrik Van Keppel and Taylor Green (VKG), a design team who “set the standard for stylish patios and poolside cabanas,” wrote the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Their designs represent the essence of Southern California living and were used in the majority of the Case Study houses, specifically Case Study 22, which was furnished entirely by VKG.
Designer Walter Lamb's 1940s outdoor collection was the result of an experiment with bronze and copper tubing salvaged from sunken naval ships at Pearl Harbor. The Collection was recognized with a MoMA design award. Brown Jordan recreated the pieces from weatherproof brass that develop a patina over time (or can be polished).

Since 1945, Pasadena, California-based Robert Brown and Huber Jordan Brown Jordan helped define the shape of outdoor leisure furniture and accessories. Their minimalist aesthetic reflects Southern California modern in the 1950s. Their first partnership with DWR was formed in 2009 with the launch of Sunshade.
"DWR shares Brown Jordan’s passion for innovative design. Expanding our relationship with them is a natural fit – the collections are striking and compelling – and with their multi-channel distribution we are confident this global opportunity will bring a new level of outdoor experience and visual excitement to consumers who seek modern and classic leisure furnishings," said Stephen F. Elton, VP of Sales and Brand Opportunity for Brown Jordan.
