Diagnosed only three weeks ago, famed interior and hospitality designer David Collins lost his battle with skin cancer on Wednesday, July 17. He was 58.

Restaurants, hotels and bars have been the focus of his company, David Collins Studio, which he founded in 1985, and he has also dabbled in fashion retail, recently creating the new generation of Alexander McQueen stores alongside the brand’s creative director, Sarah Burton.
A message posted on Collins' company website read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Collins following a short but valiant battle with cancer. David died…surrounded by his family and loved ones. A truly gifted and inspirational man who has left us with some of the most remarkable and treasured interiors."
