The second annual Gallery Weekend Chicago (GWC) will take place September 21-23 with an expanded series of events at the GWC galleries. Many of the events are free, aimed at local art enthusiasts and collectors, while GWC will attract a group of national and international collectors, helping them discover the city's contemporary art scene. Many of the events will feature conversations with the artists and curators.
There are 15 contemporary art galleries participating in the three-day event, including: Carrie Secrist Gallery, Corbett vs. Dempsey, devening projects + editions, Donald Young Gallery, Kavi Gupta Gallery, moniquemeloche, Rhona Hoffman Gallery, Richard Gray Gallery, The Mission, threewalls, Tony Wight Gallery, Valerie Carberry Gallery and Western Exhibitions.

GWC was founded by Monique Meloche and is organized in partnership with Scott Speh of Western Exhibitions and Andrew Rafacz of Andrew Rafacz Gallery.

Friday at 3:30pm: Curator Talk, Anne Lindberg's sustaining pedal at Carrie Secrist Gallery. This in depth talk about the artist, who won the 2011 Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant, will highlight her work of the museum-scale installation, her first major exhibition to be open for commercial consideration.
Saturday from 11am-3pm, Bagels and Bloodies with Geoffrey Todd Smith at Western Exhibitions. The artist will be on hand for intimate walk-throughs of his solo exhibition which will feature geometric abstractions at the gallery's new location.
