The design industry is full of new and changing faces. Editor at Large is tracking who's coming and who's going. Below are a few changes of note.
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has appointed Chris M. Tucker as COO, succeeding Thom Banks, who will remain with ASID through January 2014 during the transition period.
ASID has also named Kevin Mulvaney vice president for strategic marketing and communications; Matthew DeGeeter new director of engagement; and Andy Whittaker director of market research. All three hires will be based in the organization's national headquarters in Washington.
Michele Petry was named deputy editor, copy, Hearst Design Group. Previously she was copy director at Food & Wine and assistant managing editor at Marie Claire.
Eugenia Santiesteban, formerly the senior style editor of Veranda, is now a freelance editorial consultant for a start-up antiques website, theHighBoy.com, helping to develop their editorial content.
Julia Walsh will be leaving her post as shopping editor at POPSUGAR fora new position as editor of DomaineHome.com, where she'll be writing about interior design and styling shoots for celeb and designer house tours.
Connie Lineberry has been promoted to executive vice president of brand creative services for Furniture/Today and Janice Lassiter has been promoted to publisher of Home Accents Today, a sister publication of Furniture/Today. She was most recently associate publisher.
Tracy Gavant has been named VP sales & marketing at Robb Report. She was previously the publisher-at-large for Interiors magazine for two and a half years. She was also vp and publisher for Elle Decor for 11 years.
Margaret Dunne has left her post as marketing director for the Pacific Design Center.
Catherine Walsifer has taken a job as senior account manager at Camron. She was a senior account manager at HL Group.
Meredith Powell left John Robshaw Textiles after four years doing public relations for the company. She will be replaced by Kaitlin Kohlmann.
Roujean Khazaie has joined Sotheby's International Realty as marketing coordinator. She was previously the assistant account manager for Tamar Mashigian P.R. & Marketing. She has been replaced by Rebecca Carter.
Art and antiques show producers Liz Lees and Meg Wendy have formed a partnership to co-produce the New York Ceramics Fair.
Michael Aram has appointed Samuel Shaffer CEO, succeeding Sebastian Herald, who left the company after nine years to pursue other opportunities. Prior to joining the designer brand, Shaffer was vice president of sales and marketing of Bright Group and senior vice president of Edward Ferrel and Lewis Mittman. He also served as vice president of marketing and sales for Liora Manne Inc., the rug and fabric manufacturer.
Rob Casey has been named president of Decca Home, reporting to Richard Herbst, the managing director and CEO. Decca Home manages product design, sales and marketing for Bolier, which is owned by Decca Ltd. A former 14-year executive with Henredon, Casey oversaw licensing of the Polo Ralph Lauren and Barbara Barry brands. He also was with Martha Stewart Fine Furniture, where he was managing partner until earlier this year. operations.
After more than seven years as president of Hansgrohe North America, Russ Wheeler has stepped down. Sibylle Mair, vice president of finance and controlling, has assumed the position of interim president.
Ethan Allen hired Dave Moore as vice president and chief brand officer. Most recently Moore was co-chief creative officer for Manhattan-based ad agency AFG&. Prior to that he was executive creative director at McCann-Erickson New York, where one of his accounts was Ethan Allen.
Surya has named Lynne Meredith vice president of product development. Prior to joining Surya, she served in leadership roles within design and development for global companies such as Trade AM International and Kingfisher Group.
Interior designer Bree Dahl has joined ForrestPerkins as vice president and will be based in the Dallas office. Most recently, Dahl was as director of design for Crown Limited. Prior to that, she served as senior director of design for the St. Regis and Luxury Collection at Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
Furniture maker Theodore Alexander named Michael McCollum vice president, research and development, based at the manufacturing facility in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He reports to executive vice president Anthony Cox. Most recently McCollum was with McCollum & Associates specializing in retail direct product manufacturing. He previously held senior management positions at Broyhill and Wynwood Furniture.
Four Hands has named Adam Dunn as product development manager, a new position. He worked for the past six years at Arhaus as product developer for occasional and entertainment wall categories. He reports to Anna Ogden Coots, creative director.
Steven Avitable has taken a position as vice president of sales for Dorya, reporting to F. Doruk Yorgancioglu, the company's president and CEO, and will oversee U.S. and international sales efforts. Most recently, Avitable was senior director of furniture galleries for Ralph Lauren Home. He has also served as brand manager for the sales team of E.J. Victor, vice president of business development for Christopher Guy, and he's held executive posts at Robert Allen Fabrics and Gabbert's Furniture.
A.R.T. Furniture has named Denise Alala to the newly created position of vice president of upholstery and visual merchandising, reporting to Jeffrey Behmer, vice president of merchandising for the whole home resource. Previously, Alala was vice president of creative design for Drexel Heritage and held similar roles at Vanguard Furniture and Hickory Chair. He will be responsible for the development and execution of the merchandising of upholstery design, textiles and visual presentation.
