Comings & Goings: Design professionals on the move

Industry pros are moving on and moving up. Discover EAL’s latest rundown of the new gigs the leaders are taking on this summer:

EDITORIAL & PUBLISHING
Town & Country has hired three new employees and has also changed the roles of two of its senior editors. Norman Vanamee, a former online features editor at Architectural Digest, is now articles director, having previously worked as editor in chief of Garden Design and ShermansTravel. Whitney Robinson, former contributing editor, is now style editor, and Adam Rathe, who was recently features editor at DuJour, is now senior editor. Kevin Conley previously served as senior editor, and is now a contributor. Architecture and design editor Pilar Viladas has left that role and is now a contributing editor at the magazine.

Kate Bergeron was promoted to style editor for LUXE Interiors + Design magazine. She had been a market editor for nine months prior.

Sarah Firshein was hired by Google as a content strategist, after spending over a year as digital director of Travel + Leisure. She had been the digital editor of The Wall Street Journals Off Duty and Personal Journal sections, and prior to that, the founding editor of Curbed National.

Kari Costas joined HGTV Magazine as home editor. She previously held the title of market and social editor at Traditional Home, before a five-month stint as a freelance editor and writer.

Brittany Kaplan, the features editor for LUXE Interiors + Design’s Chicago and Arizona editions, is leaving her post to attend law school.

DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
Annabelle Murray
has left her role as junior designer, project manager and buyer at California interior design firm Nathan Turner.

Architecture and design firm BAMO has promoted Lauren McGuier and Addy Williams to senior associates. McGuier has worked on projects including the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, the Grand Hotel a Villa FeltrinelliLake Austin Spa Resort, and several luxury senior living facilities in Japan, including Sun City Takarazuka and Sun City Kobe. Her residential projects include a house on The Peak in Hong Kong and a private residence in San Francisco. Williams’ projects include Four Seasons Residences Bangkok, Capella Bangkok, VieVage Los Cabos, Inn at Spanish Bay, Hale Alani, Kohanaiki and a residence in Portola Valley, California. 

Laurie Weston has joined Dallas firm Studio 11 Design as a senior project manager. She brings experience from international firm Hirsch Bedner and has earned a certificate from the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, as well as an Interior Design Professional Certificate from the University of California Los Angeles. She has a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University.

Lisa Covelli has joined design firm Marc-Michaels Interior Design as director of model merchandising, where she will focus on the firm’s relationship with the National Association of Home Builders and the Florida Home Builders Association, in addition to expanding the company’s national and international presence.

PR, SALES & MARKETING
Ariel Moses
is now at LaFORCE, where she is opening the firm’s hospitality division.

MANUFACTURING & RETAIL
Steelyard has appointed Boyd Tasker as executive vice president. Tasker previously served as director of business development for Gift & Home at the International Market Center in Las Vegas, associate publisher at Ziff-Davis magazines, group publisher at Hoyt Publishing, and executive director of sales and marketing for Whereoware. Tasker and his wife, Christi Tasker of PuTTin’ OuT and Tasker Agency, recently founded Miami’s Wynwood Design Lab.

Joannie Fusella has joined Style Library Contract as national sales manager, hospitality. Style Library Contract is the commercial and hospitality arm of the Zoffany brands, including Anthology, Harlequin, Zoffany, Sanderson, Scion, and Morris & Co. Fusella brings past experience as the national sales director of Chella Textiles.

Brett French is rejoining Heritage Home Group in a newly created position as regional outdoor sales representative, where he will expand distribution and foster relationships with retail partners throughout the Southeast for the company’s Lane Venture outdoor brand. Additionally, Paul Oliveira, who has worked for 27 years at the company, will cover the Northeast region for Lane Venture, and Stephanie Pereira, vice president of sales, outdoor, will now lead the sales efforts for the brand. Also at Heritage, Kevin Bowman has been named to the newly created position of vice president of sales, luxury brands, where he will be responsible for brands including Hickory Chair, Henredon, Pearson, Drexel Heritage and Maitland-Smith. He’ll lead sales efforts in building and expanding market share as well as developing long-term relationships with retail and interior design partners.
