Décor NYC melds luxury home furniture with consignment
Jun 4, 2012

Décor NYC, a furniture consignment retail store focused on luxury designs from a variety of decades, provides a unique marketplace both for shoppers and for those looking to sell good condition furnishings.

Founded by Bruce Tilley, who was formerly the director of Mariani Gardens and who helped Alexander Julian launch his Colours Home collection, the Chelsea gallery is lined with art selected by curator and art consultant Pamela Auchincloss that gives a true residential feel to the loft-like space.

Putting a new spin on the enduring appeal of tag sales, consignment stores give new life to furnishings that one person may have tired of, but which are still too good and valuable to relegate to the trash.

Showrooms at the New York Design Center and D&D Building are using Décor NYC as a place to clear out showroom samples and make room for new collections, and the retail consumer benefits from getting previously "to the trade" merchandise.

A colorful work by Sol LeWitt, one of only a handful currently on the market, hangs above a just-sold console.
