In honor of its 70th anniversary, U.K.-based Design Council has released the 70 Ones to Watch list, which names 70 of the most exciting up-and-coming designers in the U.K., who together represent the future of British design.
The designers who made the list—each chosen for an individual product or project of outstanding design ingenuity and vision—were selected from hundreds of entrants ranging from furniture designers and architects to app developers.
Topping the list was Oliver Hrubiak for his Finn Lounge Chair, Neil Michels for his Civic School design, Emma Thomas for her healthcare facility design and Thomas Glover for his flooded city adaptive architecture design. Many of the forward-thinking winners design to improve people’s lives.

The variety of the designs illustrates the diverse nature of ideas coming out of the U.K.”
