Designers’ Guide to Paris Design Week: Maison&Objet and Déco Off 2016

January’s top two concurrent design fairs are returning to the City of Light. Maison&Objet, the professionals-only interiors show, takes place January 22 through 26, while Paris Déco Off, the luxury textiles show that welcomes the public along with industry pros, unfolds January 21 to 25. Read on for EAL’s highlights reel of this season’s top offerings.

DAILY EVENTS (January 21-25)
Home design pop-up shop and salon Ancien et Moderne (located at 16 rue Guénégaud) will host Cabana magazine furnishings, Fromental, Francine Gardner, Irving and Morrison, Jill Barnes-Dacey, Pierre Frey, Rule of Three, Miguel Flores-Vianna and Philippe Berry furniture. Ancien et Moderne

SAHCO will present its new collection at Salle Erard & Showroom (13+17 rue du Mail), each day from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on Saturday.

De Gournay is hosting a daily open house to showcase its new designs (15 rue des Saints-Pères).

Robert Allen will showcase its new spring 2016 collection, Color Library: Drenched Color, at the Besson showroom (29 Rue Bonaparte). Robert Allen’s U.K. marketing coordinator, Jo Fardon, will be available January 21 and 22 to offer tours and show the collection.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20
Kneedler-Fauchère’s seventh annual Welcome to Paris Reception will be hosted at the brand’s apartment (83 rue des Saints-Pères; floor 4/5), from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open to designers, press, manufacturers and industry colleagues. RSVP.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 21
Ancien et Moderne will host a press preview at 9 a.m., or by appointment. RSVP.

Patrick Frey will present 2016 collections, including Pierre Frey, Fadini Borghi and Boussac, to the press and clients at 8:30 a.m. at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (107 rue de Rivoli). The presentation will be followed by a special tour of “Tissus Inspirés,” the Pierre Frey exhibition (check out EAL’s previous coverage) with curator Sophie Rouart. RSVP.

House of Tai Ping will debut a new collection with Jeff Leatham, artistic director of the Four Seasons George V. Tai Ping is also hosting two events at the showroom, a panel discussion with Leatham at 11:30 a.m., and a cocktail party from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (4-6 rue de Montalembert).

FRIDAY, JANUARY 22
Design Leadership Network managing director Rebecca Birdwell and French designer Francine Gardner will host a breakfast at 9 a.m. at Ancien et Moderne (16 rue Guénégaud). RSVP.

From 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., JAB will host a breakfast presentation at the brand's showroom, 25-27 rue du Mail.

A Samuel & Sons breakfast and presentation will introduce new collections, including Bejeweled by Weitzner for S&S, Optix, Semi-custom and Calisto. The event will be held at 9:30 a.m. at The Peninsula, 19 avenue Kleber.

The 2016 collections by Jim Thompson Fabrics will be presented by Ou Baholyodhin, the brand’s creative director, with Richard Smith, creative director for No. 9 Thompson, and Philip Cadle, managing director for Fox Linton. Meet at 11 a.m. at the Jim Thompson Fabrics showroom (2 rue de Furstenberg); attendees will walk over to a nearby pop-up showroom together. Open to designers and press. RSVP.

Gary Glant, owner and design director of Glant, will present the brand’s 2016 collection at 2 p.m. at the Glant showroom at Cleo C (30 rue Jacob).

Alex Toledano, who earned a Ph.D. in Late Modern European History at the University of California, Berkeley, and is a specialist on the history of Paris since the French Revolution, will lead a walking tour at 3 p.m., departing from the Glant showroom.

The American Party in Paris will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the La Salon des Arcades at the Hôtel de Ville (entrance at 3 Rue de Lobau). SOLD OUT.

Popham Design will host a Moroccan apero event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 60 rue du Vertbois. RSVP.

Showroom parties on the streets of the Right and Left Banks will feature live entertainment and music, plus showroom parties, until midnight.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 23
Attend a Champagne Breakfast with Pollack/Weitzner design directors Rachel Doriss and Lori Weitzner from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 6 rue de Bourbon, Le Chateau, floor 2.

From 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m., JAB will host a breakfast presentation at the brand's showroom, 25-27 rue du Mail.

Zoffany and Anthology will host a pop-up shop from 10 a.m. to noon at 39.41 galerie Vivienne.

Caterina and Raffaele Fabrizio, Dedar owners and design directors, will present to the press the 2016 collections at a pop-up showroom at 22 rue Visconti from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. RSVP.

Camilla Fischbacher will present the Christian Fischbacher 2016 collection January 21 to 23 at the brand’s showroom (20 rue du Mail). The showroom will host an apéro party on the 23rd, following a 6 p.m. presentation.

The Paris Treasure Hunt will take place January 23 to 24, open to designers, design fans and bloggers attending M&O and Paris Déco Off. Participants should sign up and post photos within a range of categories, from participating dealers of artwork, objects, chairs, tables, mirrors and/or lighting, using the following hashtags: #PTHunt, #ParisTreasureHunt and #ParisFleaMarketLive. “Living With Antiques in Modern Times,” a discussion with “The Antiques Diva,” Toma Clark Haines, and RubyLUX’s Cathy Whitlock, with moderator Jake Baer from Newel Antiques, will focus on timeless investment pieces, buying trends and other industry insights. Danskina will be launching five new rugs from leading designer Hella Jongerius, the company’s design director, and will host a cocktail reception from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Kvadrat showroom (33 rue Charlot).

Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles editor in chief Elizabeth Ralls will host a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. at Ancien et Moderne (16 rue Guénégaud), celebrating the American South’s impact on design. RSVP.

Indulge in Champagne and breakfast with Toma Clark Haines, “The Antiques Diva,” at Ma Cocotte restaurant at the Paris Flea Market (106 rue des Rossiers), from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clark Haines will lead a panel on “How French Culture, Art and Design Has Influenced the Americas,” with Rocky LaFleur of Kneedler-Fauchère, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles editor in chief Elizabeth Ralls, and Chuck Chewning, director of interior design at Rubelli.
