Held at Donghia's D&D Building showroom, the “Dance to Design” panel on June 9 cast the limelight on the company's new furniture collection, which was inspired by the art of dance. Centering on the design process, the panel featured Chuck Chewning, creative director of Donghia; Jamie Wolf, former ballerina with the New York City Ballet and jewelry designer; Matthew White, former dancer with the Los Angeles Ballet and renowned interior designer; and moderator Wendy Goodman, design editor of New York magazine.
Andrea Favaretto Rubelli, CEO of Donghia, explained the collection’s influence: "Design’s love affair with dance has a long history. Dance, like a beautifully designed space, can make one feel both relaxed and exuberant. We are proud to host this fun and unique panel, and hope that our guests enjoy hearing how the art of dance inspired the sensual curves of our new furniture collection."
Among the event’s luminary RSVPs were Charles Pavarini III, Bradley Stephens, Arlene Agard, Patrick Hamilton and Marcia Tucker. The collection’s graceful Giselle and Carmen chairs especially exemplify the impact of dance on the collection’s design.
“Our new furniture collection, inspired by the movement of dance, has us all enchanted. We wanted to explore dance as a creative influence and we are so happy that Jamie, Matthew, Chuck and Wendy are sharing their knowledge on these two art forms," shared Amy J. Darrah, President of Donghia.
