Donghia will now be the distributor for Hinson & Company textile, wallcovering, and lighting collections, and MacDougall fine furniture and decorative accessories in all national showrooms. New collections are slated to be introduced biannually beginning in Spring 2012.
“This is a significant opportunity for Hinson and I believe that the integrity of our brand will thrive with such an established company as Donghia. Our visions for growth and our commitment to superior quality are aligned,” said founder Harry Hinson, who will continue to be a leading force behind the brand’s internal affairs. He will remain Director of Design, working closely with Olivier Peardon, President & CEO, to develop the brand further and grow the company again through its newly established distribution network with Donghia.
“We are eager to support the Hinson brand and honor the work of Harry Hinson. He is a leader in our industry and we are privileged to help write the next chapter of this brand’s story,” notes Crans Baldwin, President of Donghia, Inc. Rubelli owner Andrea Rubelli warmly welcomed the Hinson brand on behalf of his family stating he looks forward “to a profitable endeavor in the United States and ultimately in other nations around the world.
Donghia founder, designer Angelo Donghia, created glamorous interiors for celebrities including Diana Ross, Ralph Lauren, Woody Allen, Barbara Walters, Liza Minelli, and Donald Trump. Donghia is part of the Venetian Rubelli Group, which includes Dominique Kieffer and Armani/Casa Exclusive Textiles by Rubelli.
Founded in 1972, Hinson & Company is deeply rooted in distinctively American style and heritage that is timeless. The fabric collection is famous for its depth in chenilles and textures, in a primarily neutral palette. Since the acquisition of Hansen Lamps 16 years ago, Hinson Lighting has expanded into a wide array of wall, ceiling and table lamps, as well as a remarkable collection of indoor/outdoor lighting. Highlights of the collection include such famous lamps as the Hinson/Hanson Swing Arm Lamps, T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings Console Lamp, Square Marble Table Lamps, Crystal Rod, Tent and Library Lamps.
In early 2010, Hinson & Company was acquired by Thomas P. Peardon and T. Olivier Peardon, the sole stockholders of Brunschwig & Fils, before Brunschwig was purchased out of bankruptcy by Kravet.
