Dwell magazine's Editor in Chief Sam Grawe and Design Director Kyle Blue have both stepped down after five years with the magazine, according to a report in Curbed.
The news came from a Tweet on Friday that read, "Enjoying my last day @dwell with @KyleBlue ... It's been an amazing decade of design."
Blue is relocating from San Francisco, where Dwell is headquartered, to Brooklyn, where his design studio Everything-Type-Company (E-T-C) is based. There is no information as to where Grawe is headed, or who will be replacing him.
Sam Grawe and Kyle Blue
Sam Grawe joined Dwell in October 2000 as the Editorial Assistant, and served as an Editor on the team which garnered a General Excellence Award from the American Society of Magazine Editors in 2005. Under his leadership Dwell completed a successful redesign in 2008 and website redesign in 2009, and became a finalist in the 2009 National Design Award for Corporate Excellence. He has served as a juror for the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon, the American Society of Landscape Architects Professional Awards, and the American Institute of Architects National Honor Awards, and co-taught a design workshop at University of Art and Design Helsinki with Erwan Bouroullec.
During Kyle Blue's tenure, Dwell was a finalist in the Corporate and Institutional Achievement category from the Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards. Before being appointed to his current position, he worked as a senior designer at Apple, as a designer for Lucille Tenazas, and as a design fellow at the Walker Art Center. He is also a regular contributor to Arkitip.
