Fort Worth Antiques show adds art, third day
Mar 3, 2015

This year brings change to the 52nd Fort Worth Show of Antiques & Art, running Thursday, March 5 to 7. Themed Art! Art! Art! and featuring 150 exhibitors from across the US, this year’s show will not only add a third day due to public demand, but also will introduce “The Art Dept.”
“The Fort Worth Show is now an art event as well as an antiques powerhouse,” said Show Director Jan Orr-Harter.

The show itself will feature art and antiques from a wide range of categories, including American, French, English, jewelry, industrial, fashion, Western, repurposed, garden, formal and mid-century modern. This last category will be the largest featured in the show. “The Art Dept.” will feature local working artists including Ronald Watson, past Director of the TCU School of Art, Dallas collage artist Maureen Brouillette, and Arlington painter Susan Fuquay. Also featured are F. David Gibson of the 1960s “Paschal Group,” and an offering of works by Brooklyn abstract expressionist Jacob Semiatin, (1915-2003), from New York City art dealer Michelle Billette.
The decision to add a third day came following requests from shoppers leaving for spring break the weekend of the show.  Orr-Harter calls this move “an experiment. We will stay open till 7 p.m. on Thursday and move the show Happy Hour Party to Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. as well.”
In addition to being a wonderful way to begin spring break, the Fort Worth Show offers a chance to give back to the community. The show will host Benefit Booths in support of two local art programs: the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s “Sharing the Past through Art” program for Alzheimer’s patients, and The Art Station, a group that provides art therapy for age six through elderly in treatment for crisis, grief and illness.
The 52nd Fort Worth Show of Antiques & Art will run 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7., at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3400 Burnett-Tandy, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Admission is $8; tickets can be purchased at the door or online. Children 15 and under enter free.
