Oct 30, 2015

“Artisanal,” a living room installation by the Brazilian design team Humberto and Fernando Campana, will debut at The Salon: Art + Design from November 13 to 16. Presented by Friedman Benda, the installation signifies a new direction for the Campana Brothers.

The pieces draw on the Campanas’ 2013 “Concepts” exhibition, which was also presented by Friedman Benda. The works are now focused on using refined materials and craftsmanship, as seen in the Pirarucu Sofa, which is made with tanned skins from one of the world’s largest freshwater fish, found in the Amazon. The installation also includes the Detonado Modular Bookshelf and Detonado Wall Piece, created from reclaimed wicker from Thonet chairs, which were first created in Germany in 1859. The living room vignette will also showcase a free-form marble fireplace with slabs of giallo Siena constructed with Italian artisans.

Visit the work at Friedman Benda’s booth (B1) at The Salon: Art + Design.
