Dec 22, 2015

Carpenters Workshop Gallery | New York has moved into the top two floors of the Takashimaya Building (693 Fifth Ave.), the facades and boutiques of which were recently reimagined by architect David Chipperfield. The new space is the Carpenter Workshop Gallery’s fourth, including locales in London, Paris and Roissy, a suburb of Paris. Founders Julien Lombrail and Loïc Le Gaillard opened the New York locale last month.

Dedicated to collectible design, the 19th floor spotlights the work of artists and designers, while the 20th-floor penthouse is home to a private salon. The New York space on the whole is committed to enhancing and strengthening the work of artists in the U.S. and South America, such as Johanna Grawunder, Wendell Castle and Rick Owens. Artists whose work debuted with the premiere of the new gallery include Ingrid Donat, Vincent Dubourg, the duo Studio Job, Random International and Robert Stadler, in addition to the work of designers Nacho Carbonell and Vincenzo De Cotiis.
