Finland’s annual furniture, interior decoration and design fair, Habitare, will showcase modern design and future trends based on today’s values. This year’s theme is "Synergy", which draws strength from the fruits of cooperation and shifts the attention from individuals to communities: work groups, interest groups and networks of designers, manufacturers, clients and users. The power of synergy is far from unprecedented; after all, cooperation has had a central role in the success stories of early Finnish design. Sharing information, know-how and contacts between different arts and crafts has facilitated accommodating to the ever-changing situations brought about by the global operating environment. "Synergy" promotes the combination of various players’ resources as a prerequisite for the success of Finnish design both on domestic and international markets. The 2010 Ahead! exhibition area will be transformed into a versatile ground where people and ideas can come together. The exhibition has been put together in a way that celebrates the combined effect of various players, touching upon social and economic synergy as well as synergy between different sectors, countries, producers and consumers. The exhibition’s operational sections, Meet, Share, Learn and Change, create prerequisites for the cooperation between exhibitors, guest speakers and visitors. Through this cooperation, current challenges may just transform into projects that create new design. Habitare will be held at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre from September 1–5, 2010.
