Hearst acquisition leads to changes at shelter magazines

On the heels of the finalization of its deal with Lagardère, Hearst Magazines announced new management promotions for its newly expanded portfolio.
In her new role as SVP, publishing director and chief revenue officer, Kate Kelly Smith will manage the publishing side of ELLE DECOR and VERANDA in addition to her current responsibilities as Publisher of House Beautiful. Jennifer Levene Bruno, publisher and chief revenue officer of VERANDA, and Barbara Friedman, VP and publisher of ELLE DECOR, will report to Kelly Smith.
As SVP, publishing director and chief revenue officer, Patricia Haegele will continue to oversee the sales and marketing for Good Housekeeping, while also managing Country Living and Woman’s Day. Chris Allen, VP, publisher and chief revenue officer of Country Living, and Ginger Sutton, VP and publisher of Woman’s Day, will report to Haegele. Carlos LaMadrid, chief brand officer for Woman’s Day, will be leaving the company.
Haegele and Kelly Smith will continue to report to Michael A. Clinton, president, marketing and publishing director, Hearst Magazines.
“Pat and Kate are leaders and innovators who understand their respective spaces—women’s lifestyle and home—and how to move a brand forward to be much more than just a magazine,” Clinton said. “They are the right people to take on this additional responsibility as Hearst grows in scope and I’m thrilled to be able to promote them to the publishing director role.”
