Herman Miller opens its first North American retail store
Nov 29, 2016

Global manufacturer Herman Miller has opened its first stand-alone retail store in North America. The store, which opened its doors to the public on November 22, occupies two floors and a total of 6,000 square feet in the brand’s New York flagship that opened earlier this year near Gramercy Park.

The space's design was inspired by Herman Miller partner Charles Eames, who said the role of the designer is that of a "very good, thoughtful host." The floor plan is laid out like a home—with rooms for living, working and everything in between—and its inventory brings together modern and vintage Herman Miller furniture, lighting and accessories with products from vendors and skilled artisans from around the world, including rugs from Danskina and Breuckelen Berber, kitchen and tabletop items from Deborah Ehrlich, pillows and bags from Maharam, and more.

The new location will broaden direct consumer reach and assist with Herman Miller’s shift toward the premium lifestyle market.
