City Modern, a new joint publication from Dwell and New York Magazine, will host an inaugural festival October 1-7 in New York City. The event will celebrate New York design and architecture through a series of panels, lectures and house tours.
City Modern programs will be led by New York Magazine’s Design Editor Wendy Goodman and Dwell’s Editor-in-Chief Amanda Dameron. Celebrated panelists include: designer Nate Berkus, restaurateur Andrew Tarlow, Jerry Helling of Bernhardt Design, Marion Weiss of Weiss/Manfredi, architecture critic Alexandra Lange, architect Hugh Hardy, the Guggenheim’s David van der Leer, artist Mary Ellen Carroll, architect Michael Arad, lighting artist Leni Schwendinger, Philippe Vergne, Director of the Dia Art Foundation, designer Dror Benshetrit and design duo Leong Leong.
The premiere issue of City Modern hits newsstands on Monday, September 17.
Among the highlights are New York home tours on October 6 and 7 and open-studio visits to a dozen internationally acclaimed industrial designers in Brooklyn.
