Housing Works Thrift Shops, a New York-based AIDS service organization, is calling out for donations from the design industry for home furnishings products such as furniture, bedding, tabletop and artwork, for its sixth annual "Design on a Dime" benefit event next month. Donated items will be use to inspire and outfit designer room vignettes at the event, which attendees can peruse and shop while they enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment. Housing Works will pick up donated items, which are tax deductible, free of charge. Proceeds for the event will benefit Housing Works 874 Jefferson Avenue Residence Project, a new housing development project for single, formerly homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS that will incorporate many sustainable design and construction techniques. To donate product for 2010 "Design on a Dime," contact Mel at 718-838-5051.
