Houzz debuts trade program with multiple discount options
Jun 9, 2017

Baldwin, Emerson, Feiss, Flos, Kräus, Missoni Home, Safavieh and Swarovski are among the brands open to designer discounts using the new Houzz Trade Program. Launched earlier this week, the program, which is integrated with existing Houzz tools like Ideabooks and Sketch, is designed to offer designers a number of ways to profit from both purchasing and recommending products in the Houzz Marketplace.

Houzz Marketplace, which debuted nearly three years ago, offers products for major remodeling projects and custom home builds, including bathtubs and fixtures, furniture, decor products and more. To start, trade-only pricing has been negotiated for 200,000 products (there are 8 million on the site), available to pros who have a professional Houzz profile. International products are among those available at a discount.

“We’re incredibly excited to give our 1.5 million-strong professional community the opportunity to increase both profit and client satisfaction through the Houzz Trade Program,” says Liza Hausman, vice president of industry marketing for Houzz. “This program is the latest tool we’ve developed to benefit our incredible pro community, and continues to make the process of renovation and design more productive, profitable and fun for everyone involved.”

Houzz takes designers inside the various discounts.

The program offers a number of perks, which may appeal to designers based on their own business models. One, a rebate program, allows interior designers to recommend products to clients on Houzz, via creating an Ideabook and sharing it with their client. When the client buys a product, the designer receives a 10 percent credit, used towards future Houzz purchases.

Designers can share their unique discount code with clients; clients receive 5 percent off and the designers earn a 5 percent credit. The tool also allows designers to track their clients’ purchases. Additionally, designers are welcome to take advantage of free shipping for purchases over $49 and a dedicated trade support team and account manager.

Members of several industry trade associations—including the American Society for Interior Designers (ASID), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP), the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and the Interior Design Society (IDS)—are pre-approved for the program.
