Icelandic designers explore their role in times of change

Bringing the awakening of spring and the growth in Icelandic design, the third annual DesignMarch features Iceland's internationally renowned veterans in the field as well as fledgling upcoming designers.

This year's program includes more than a hundred events, exhibitions and lectures that present design as a fundamental player in times of great change. Highlights include an installation by Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir aka Shoplifter at the Museum of Design and Applied Art, 10+ furniture exhibitions with over 30 new Icelandic furniture designs, new collections of Scintillas home textiles, and an installation by KRADS architects.

On this year’s DesignMarch opening day, Thursday March 24th, the Iceland Design Center hosts a series of lectures and panel discussion with Berlin based furniture and interior designer Jerszy Seymour, Dutch architect Winy Maas and Icelandic designer Siggi Eggertsson along with Finnish architect and furniture designer Ilkka Suppanen highlighting design in times of change.

In recent years, design has been flourishing, and a new environment calls for a new way of thinking. Design plays a fundamental role in a changing world; its methodology offers unique opportunities for creation and re-creation. These four designers, celebrated for their bold vision and innovative approach, will share their experience, ideology and vision for the future.
