IFPDA Print Fair breaks attendance records
Nov 23, 2015

The International Fine Print Dealers Association’s annual IFPDA Print Fair ran earlier this month at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. Almost 10,000 visitors came to this year’s fair, where 89 exhibitors featured works from the past 500 years, including prints by leading contemporary artists.

“The Fair’s record-breaking Preview really set an exuberant tone that flowed through the entire weekend. There was a lot of excitement and energy, and we were delighted to see a surge of interest from a new generation of collectors,” states IFPDA executive director Michele Senecal. “Our exhibiting dealers understand the importance of serving as a knowledge base in this medium for new and seasoned collectors alike.”

Major museum acquisitions as well as many private sales took place. A few significant purchases include Jim Dine’s 2015 “Left-handed Woodcut” to a museum. Susan Sheehan Gallery sold out of their booth twice, after selling nine color lithographs from Frank Stella’s 1964 Purple Series to a museum, then selling two Andy Warhol pieces (priced at $80,000 each) to a private collector and a museum.

Both international and national collectors were in attendance, and the IFPDA Print Fair reported an influx of a younger group of collectors.
