IIDA seeking top interiors in Latin America and Caribbean

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA)’s fifth yearly Best Interiors of Latin America & the Caribbean Competition is now open. The IIDA is calling for interior design and architecture projects in the region that embody “the highest level of creativity, originality and design excellence.”

“These awards celebrate the tremendous talent and significant design accomplishments in this region,” said Cheryl S. Durst, IIDA’s executive vice president and CEO. “With an abundance of locally inspired design and visionary architecture, we look forward to once again showcasing the interiors that are shaping how people in Latin America and the Caribbean experience the built environment.”

Design projects must be located in Latin America or the Caribbean, but the participating firms can be based anywhere. 

Categories include: 
    •    Corporate Space Large (1,000 square meters and above)
    •    Corporate Space Small (under 1,000 square meters)
    •    Education (elementary/secondary educational facilities, colleges/universities)
    •    Entertainment (casinos, performing arts centers, sports arenas, theaters)
    •    Healthcare (hospitals, outpatient clinics, medical facilities)
    •    Hospitality (lounges, bars)
    •    Hotels
    •    Institutional (cultural, government/municipal spaces, libraries, religious spaces)
    •    Residences – Multi-Family (condos, apartments; includes model/sample/show residential units)
    •    Residences – Single Family (inhabited free-standing homes)
    •    Restaurants
    •    Retail (stores, boutiques)
    •    Showrooms/Exhibition Spaces/Sales Centers
    •    Spas/Fitness Centers/Gymnasiums

Additionally, a Narrative Award will recognize a project that includes “a compelling project statement that describes extraordinary circumstances surrounding a project or significant challenges that were overcome.”

The competition’s entry deadline is April 7.
