IMM Cologne launches kitchen initiative
Dec 20, 2016

International interiors show IMM Cologne will debut a new kitchen section this January. The new initiative, called KitchenLab, will spotlight different design approaches to both the kitchen and food production. Developed in partnership with LivingKitchen (the kitchen show that co-occurs with IMM Cologne every two years) and the Dutch interior design magazine Frame, the exhibit will reveal the work of 15 Dutch designers.

Hansgrohe will appear at the LivingKitchen 2017 exhibit

“With KitchenLab, we are shifting a socio-critical, even sociopolitical, subject to the center stage of an exhibition,” explains Robert Thiemann, CEO of Frame magazine. “Consumer behavior with regard to the food we eat, and the related question of the sustainable and ecological growing of products, is a most controversial subject—particularly when thinking about climate-neutral production. The fact that it is designers from The Netherlands who choose to take this approach has in part to do with the design culture there, which has always been daring to stick its neck out a little further and is happy to make some experimental contributions to a socio-critical dialogue about design.”

“The 15 projects that will be displayed in partnership with Frame during LivingKitchen are an excellent example of how innovative design approaches to the subject of food and cooking can be integrated into the existing design and style of the home,” says Eike Fuchs, LivingKitchen project manager. “This approach is an exciting, new perspective, and we are proud to be setting new standards with this design event once again.”
