“I met Mindy Grossman, CEO of HSN, through a mutual friend,” said India Hicks. “Mindy was amazed to hear that I lived on a small tropical island. Even more amazed to hear I had bottled the smells of the island into a fragrance collection. ‘Come and tell your story on HSN,’ she said. So, I did. A year later she asked if I would bring to life my tropical home in the form of a bedding collection.”
Fast forward to this week when Hicks officially launched her collection, India Hicks Island Living, across all platforms of HSN (The Home Shopping Network), including television, HSN.com and HSN mobile.
Hicks in the Bahamas
As an interior designer who lives on Harbour Island in the Bahamas, Hicks was strongly influenced by the inspiring seascapes, natural charm and beauty of the tropical paradise. For the past few months, she has been finding inspiration for the collection by collecting swatches of color, snippets of rope, and bleached sand dollars, photographing the turquoise ocean, and sketching palm fronds.
From there, Hicks went on to create the collection of bedding, quilts, throws and home decor accents. The collection is divided into four groupings: Harbour Island, Paradise Toile, Tropical Garden, and Trade Winds, each based off of a different coastal genre.
“This collection celebrates the triumph of natural design that envelops my island life,” said Hicks. “How could I compete with nature? This collection works as well on a tropical island as it does in a city bedroom.”
"India Hicks is a fantastic designer and her island vision and coveted designs will be a tremendous addition to our home decor portfolio," said Anne Martin-Vachon, chief merchandising officer for HSN. "She offers worldly, sophisticated style through the lens of impeccable British design, which is effortlessly chic with a dash of rebellion.”
When asked about her vision for the future, Hicks replied, “I’m hoping for a long and happy one!”
