Jun 14, 2016

Jowa Imre Kis-Jovak, the interior architect, designer and director/founder of Architectenbureau Jowa, has designed the Oswaldo Vigas exhibition at São Paulo, Brazil’s Museu de Arte Contemporânea. Highlighting seven decades of work, the retrospective casts a spotlight on Vigas’ pre-Hispanic art and African statues, as well as his sculpture, tapestries, engravings, and ceramic pieces of work.

In addition to running his architecture and design practice, Kis-Jovak has taught professional theory, interior and furniture design, and has worked on exhibition design projects at the CoBrA Museum in Amsterdam, The Frick Collection in New York, and National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, Netherlands.

The exhibit is organized into five “cabinets,” each around a different theme of Vigas’ life: The Human Form, Mythological, Private Life, Constructivism and Mattereological, and Freedom of Matter. It will run through July 2.
