Interior Design magazine Editor in Chief Cindy Allen, along with previous Hall of Fame members, announced the inductees for the 27th annual Hall of Fame Awards, which takes place November 30 in New York as a benefit for the Council for Interior Design Accreditation and The Alpha Workshops.
The inductees include Nada Andric of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM); David Kleinberg of David Kleinberg Design Associates; a special award to design impresario George M. Beylerian; and designer Patricia Uriquola (featured above clockwise).
"The incredible diversity of this ‘fab four’ perfectly represents the glorious spectrum of design,” said Allen, “from enormous commercial to boutique residential work, from product to material innovation, believe me they've got it all covered!"
The Hall of Fame was established to recognize the individuals who have made a significant contribution to the growth and prominence of the design industry. The annual event is among the most respected, well-attended, and glamorous events in the industry, nationally and internationally.
Tiickets for the event are $630 and can be purchased through Regina Freedman at 646-805-0270 or email@example.com.
About the recipients:
Since joining SOM in 1992, Andric focuses her extensive design experience on the firm’s large-scale global architecture and interior design projects (corporate, hospitality, financial, convention, and performing arts). Andric spent the last several years on the completion of the Burj Khalifa’s (formerly Burj Dubai)—the world’s tallest building—a mixed-use tower comprising residential, commercial, hotel, and retail spaces. Her design accomplishments have been recognized with over 20 national and international design awards and her work is frequently featured in prominent publications worldwide.
Redefining a modern, understated sensibility is Kleinberg’s trademark. With a sophisticated clientele that holds Kleinberg to his own exacting standards for calm, tranquil living spaces the designer responds in project after project with, as he says, “people-ready rooms.” Kleinberg’s talents were honed during his sixteen-year tenure at the famed Parish-Hadley Associates. He created environments that reflected the Parish-Hadley style while developing his signature modernist aesthetic. In 1997 Kleinberg founded his own firm, David Kleinberg Design Associates.
A Milan-based designer and architect in hospitality, retail, residential, and furniture design with projects spanning the globe, Urquiola is one of the most prolific designers of her generation. Her design studio focuses on product design, architecture, interiors, and displays. Her most recent work includes projects for B&B Italia, Kartell, Foscarini, Flos, Alessi and De Padova and hospitality interiors such as the Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona. Urquiola while working in harmony with the highest academic standard also takes into consideration the impact that her products have on the vast public.
Importer, retailer, curator, author, and entrepreneur, Beylerian has worked tirelessly over the past 40+ years to nurture and incubate design in the United States and abroard. As founder of Material ConneXion and Culture & Commerce, Beylerian continues to shape the face of design and material innovation in the 21st century. Widely sought out for his insight on design trends and product development strategy, Beylerian is a frequent speaker and media contributor on both domestic and international design issues. In 2010, Beylerian received the “Visionaries” Lifetime Achievement Award from the Museum of Art & Design.
