Interior Design's 26th annual Hall of Fame gala introduces a new award this year, the Design Icon. The inaugural award will honor former editor of Architectural Digest and 1985 Hall of Fame inductee Paige Rense.
Paige Rense served as editor in chief of Architectural Digest from 1975 until 2010. She took the magazine from a circulation of 50,000 to 850,000 with a total audience of 5.4 million readers. Rense was initially inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 1985.

The 2010 inductees also include Shigeru Ban of Shigeru Ban Architects; Neil Denari of Neil M. Denari Architects; and designer Karim Rashid.
The inductees will be honored at an event in New York on December 1. Proceeds will benefit the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, as well as The Alpha Workshops.
