What is so great about Great Britain? Well, an ambitious international promotional campaign is hoping to attract visitors so they can see for themselves—and interior and product designer Kelly Hoppen has been named an ambassador of the effort.
The “GREAT” campaign aims to showcase the very best of what Britain has to offer—from restaurants and national parks to historical architecture and sporting events—and to encourage the world to visit, study and do business in the U.K.
Hoppen, who began her business at age 16, is known globally for her interior and product design and has championed the campaign since it began in 2012. As part of her new role, Hoppen will promote British design and creativity overseas.
“I have long supported the GREAT campaign so it is an honor to be recognized as an official ambassador,” said Hoppen.
Celebrating 40 years in the design industry this year, Hoppen has a vast network of global contacts. Her ambassadorial duties will include actively supporting and encouraging the use of U.K.-based designers and design manufacturers.

“I hope that my involvement can make a considerable difference to help expand Great Britain’s status in the global marketplace,” she said.
Hoppen has joined the ranks of other notable campaign ambassadors, including architect Zaha Hadid, fashion designer Stella McCartney and racecar driver Tom Daley.
The GREAT campaign—launched by Prime Minister David Cameron in 2012—is active in 144 countries and to date has delivered an estimated 1 billion Euros in direct return to the economy.
