The Townhouse neighbors The Carlton House, a recently renovated luxury building initially designed as a hotel by Kenneth B. Norton over 65 years ago. In 2013, Extell Development, with architect Beyer Blinder Belle, started converting The Carlton House into a 68-unit tower, adding two additional stories, plus the Townhouse. The Townhouse has a separate private entrance on East 61st Street and is at present a raw space that can be custom-designed according to potential homeowners’ demands.

“We are excited to host the 2016 Kips Bay Decorator Show House at the Carlton House Townhouse, an impressive new space connected to one of Manhattan’s most sought-after luxury buildings,” said Show House chair and celebrated interior designer Bunny Williams. “Through the first week of February, we are calling for submissions from designers from across the world to help us transform this space and raise funds for the city’s youth. We are eager to canvass the industry this year, and are looking forward to adding fresh faces to our impressive roster of past Kips Bay Decorator Show House participants.”

The Show House will open to the public on May 12, and it benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, which provides after-school and other programs for more than 10,000 youth throughout the Bronx.

“Last year marked a major milestone for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, as we celebrated our 100th year of service and one of the most successful Show Houses to date,” said James Druckman, president and CEO of the New York Design Center, and president of the board at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. “We are looking forward to continuing this momentum at the Carlton House Townhouse, an ideal backdrop to not only showcase the talent of top interior designers, but also raise critical funds to keep the Club thriving for many years to come.”
