The Los Angeles Antiques, Art + Design show (LAAADS) kicked off in its new venue earlier this month with its annual Opening-Night Preview Party, bringing together VIPs and influencers from the worlds of design, fashion, art, entertainment and culture for a special preview of the show.
More than a thousand guests enjoyed an evening of champagne and hors d’oeuvres while previewing decorative and fine arts from more than 43 high-profile art and antiques dealers.

Furth, Jane Hallworth, Kathryn M. Ireland, Donna Livingston, Joe Lucas, Jeffrey Alan Marks, Matthew Rolston, Lauralee Bell and Scott Martin, Lynda and Stewart Resnick, Kay Saatchi, Julian Sands, Joel Silver, Trina Turk, Barbra Streisand and Madeline Stuart.

Proceeds from the party benefitted the Decorative Arts and Design Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which also recognized world-renowned photographer Tim Street-Porter and his wife, noted author Annie Kelly, with the prestigious Design Leadership Award during the event.
The following day, the show opened to the public and guests were able to shop the decorative and fine art booths with hundreds of items from international exhibitors.

Other show highlights included the Design LA panel discussion, which featured designers Charlotte Moss, Cliff Fong, Mary McDonald and Kelly Wearstler sharing their game-changing career moments with moderator Newell Turner. The group signed copies of their latest books for attendees and shared valuable tips on how to “make it big” in the design industry.

In addition, students from the Culver City-based Willows School under the guidance of Street-Porter displayed their photography in a special exhibition at the show. The students were able to engage in educational activities throughout the show, and also served as docents throughout the venue, teaching guests about the history of various objects.
This year’s premier sponsors included 1stdibs, Donghia and the Hearst Design Group. The next show will take place in October 2014.
